A resource is described as any physical or virtual entity of limited availability that needs to be consumed to obtain a benefit from it. We often measure natural resources in purely economic terms, often overlooking moral and ethical considerations, not to mention our overall health and wellbeing. How do you compare the beauty of a mountain against the need to remove it for coal exploration? As our population expands, the demand for energy and energy sources will increase exponentially. How we address these issues will speak to our principles as well as determine what sort of world we leave for future generations.
This project is an exploration into how we source energy, particularly how we transition into more renewable resources, and how those industries affect our lives and the environment we live in. It is deeply personal for me. I believe as Edward Abbey has stated, “It is no longer sufficient to describe the world of nature. The point is to defend it.” My hope is that this project will generate some conversation towards that goal.
